Herstory: Women, Rights, Feminism

Although some women such as Cleopatra, Joan of Arc or Queen Victoria (and Elizabeth) made it into the history books, traditional history was mostly made by white, heterosexual men. The achievements of women, People of Colour and queer people were mostly ignored, their experiences were considered trivial. Gender history tries to close these gaps. We take a look at historical role models. We follow in the footsteps of pioneers in computer history, explore what bicycles have to do with emancipation and investigate what lies behind the popularity of women's brass bands in the German Empire.
